I began ministry at Second Presbyterian Church in Carlisle in the summer of 2004. Coming to this congregation wa I attended Harvard Divinity School between 1985-1990. After a year of hospital chaplaincy, in 1992 I was ordained at First Presbyterian in Germantown, PA. My husband Kevin is a physician at Hershey Medical Center, and my daughter Sarah Rose is living in Washington, DC, and works for the State Department in human rights. We enjoy music, theater, art, and learning more about Civil War history. |

I came to Second Pres in 2002 after an eight-year stint teaching public school vocal and general music wh I've been married to Christina Hoke since 1998, and we have three children: Simon, India, and Philip. Christina works at Wegmans in Mechanicsburg in the accounting office. Simon and India really enjoy dancing with Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, and Philip enjoys sports and games. Our whole family likes traveling and the arts. The main part of my work at Second Pres involves direction or administration of our church's ten vocal and instrumental ensembles, playing the organ or piano for worship services, and directing the church's arts series. One of my favorite aspects of ministry is choral directing. I like the process of putting together beautiful texts and music. |

Director of Christian Education

My husband Bill and I were married in 1990 and moved across the street from the church, where we so My emphasis at Second Pres is the Sunday school and Kirk Night programming, focusing on the education of our children and adults. I have one of the most important jobs in the church: helping our children to grow, love, and serve. My goal is to work with parents to give children a firm foundation and to make the Bible, the stories, and the church come alive for them. If we can train our children while they are young and give them wonderful experiences in the church, we can give them the tools they need for the future. |

I was born and raised in New Oxford, Pennsylvania, one of 10 children. I moved to Carlisle in 1977 and joined S Some things that I like to do are spend time with my family, go to the beach, and have friends and family over for cookouts and fun. I started to work at Second Pres in 1999. My current responsibilities include building maintenance, scheduling, serving on the Church Life Committee, and assisting many other program support areas. I find joy and satisfaction in my ministry through the people whom I get to know better. Everyone has a story, and I truly believe that we all have a mission here. |

I grew up in western Pennsylvania where I became a Steeler, Pirate, and Nittany Lion fan. My wife Mary and I c I’m a member of Allison United Methodist Church where, as an usher, I enjoy meeting and greeting people who come to the early service. At Allison, I also serve on a counting team, on the Investment Committee, and on the Prayer Life Committee, and I’m a member of United Methodist Men with whom I enjoy working at Project S.H.A.R.E. I’ve also served on Allison’s Finance and Nominations Committees. Although I’m a recent addition to the Second Presbyterian Church staff, I’ve been very impressed with the friendliness of the people and of the programs and ministries that Second Presbyterian provides |
