A Small Group Experience for People Who Want to
Discover More about God, Themselves, and Other Great People
What is Inquirers? Instead of a traditional “New Members Class” Second Presbyterian Church offers a small group experience called “Inquirers.” The emphasis is on building relationships with each other and God as well as on building knowledge of the church and what it means to be a fully-devoted follower of Jesus Christ. The Inquirers experience includes times of learning, laughing, working together, and growing in faith. At the end of the group time you may choose to join this family of faith, but there is no obligation to do so.
Who should come? You! Each group includes folks who are new to Christianity as well as folks who have been life-long Presbyterians. Absolute beginners and seasoned experts sit side-by-side and learn from each other. If you are not yet a member and are looking to take a step forward in faith, this is the group for you. Spouses are very welcome, too!
What will we actually do? The schedule for 2012 is listed below. The emphasis of Inquirers! is on building your relationships with Jesus Christ and each other. You’ll also learn a little about this congregation’s past and future, discuss what it means to be on a journey of faith, complete a mission project, and meet several church leaders – and have fun doing it! All this happens in an informal—“no question is too stupid”—setting. Coffee and childcare are provided.
What if I’ve never been baptized? No problem! This group is the ideal preparation for baptism.
What if I can’t attend every session? We recognize that you have other commitments. If you’ll miss a few sessions, that’s o.k.; we can make that up. If you think you’ll have to miss more than a few, speak to your small group leader and we can discuss alternative arrangements. If you’re in doubt, come anyway!
When is the next group being formed after February 2012? The next group is scheduled to form in February 2013! Why wait?
What about child care? Our Nursery and Sunday School will be open for all morning sessions.
How do I sign up? Just contact the church secretary, Mona Crouch, in the church office (243-4571; Mona@GrowWithSecond.org), and we’ll know to expect you.

Mission Mornings
At Second Pres we believe that every member can be a minister and a missionary. To introduce our Inquirers to this concept we invite them to participate in at least one hands-on mission project during the program. We have set up two special opportunities for this. You can also create a mission “morning” of your own.
