Fellowship Opportunities

Second Presbyterian Church has fellowship activities
for everyone!
These activities are a great way to meet new people and enjoy time together.
They are a good way to get acquainted with our Second Family.

Of Special Interest to Men:  If you’re looking to connect with other men of faith – or to move forward on your faith journey – Second Pres is a great place for you. We have a Friday morning men’s prayer group, a Sunday evening small group Bible Study, and a softball team (co-ed), and throughout the year we offer great mission and fellowship opportunities (we’ve recently sent men to Honduras, to Camp Krislund Work Week, and to West Virginia whitewater rafting). And Brown Baggers is a weekly lunch group for retired men. Click here to contact Pastor Jeff for more information.

• Join us for the Men's Ministry "Need for Speed" Weekend -- June 5-6, 2010.  Up to 48 hours of adrenaline, action and adventure!  Click here for additional information

Of Special Interest to Women:  Women are crucial to our congregation’s spiritual life. Presbyterian Women and the Seeker Circles are open to all women of the congregation. The softball team (co-ed) and our book groups and discussions (such as “Mystics on Mondays”) also appeal to women of a variety of ages. Presbyterian Women is for all women of our church. For details click here to contact Pastor Jennifer.

Family OpportunitiesThrough our movie nights, “Kids Fun and Fellowship,” and events like the annual Easter Egg Hunt and Halloween Party, whole families can have fun together with other people in a safe Christian environment. Kirk Night (Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:30pm, during the school year) is a neat time for entire families to eat, study, and pray together through individually chosen programs. For details contact these staff members: Vicki Lantz or Deb Brandberg. Looking for an inexpensive and memorable family vacation? Consider coming to our annual Camp Krislund week:

Camp Krislund Work Week -- July 11-17, 2010Each year we send a group of great kids and adults to Camp Krislund, near State College, Pa. This Presbyterian camping experience is a high-point of many people’s summers (and their spiritual journeys!). Kids from Kindergarten through Senior High participate in the high-energy, high-adventure, Christ-centered programming while adults volunteer in various parts of the camp. Kids can come without their parents; parents can come without kids; in short, Krislund Week is for the whole church family. For more information contact Pastor Jeff or click here see Krislund’s website.

Brown Baggers - A group of men who meet for lunch, discussion, and fellowship every Wednesday at noon.  Bring your own lunch;  coffee is provided. Contact Deb for information.

XYZers - This group of senior people with Xtra Years of Zest meets at the church on the first Monday of the month for lunch.  A new topic is chosen each month, and with the help of the group, soup, bread, and dessert are enjoyed along with fellowship.  Contact Deb for more information.

Kids Fun and Fellowship - Periodically, a social activity (picnic, corn maize, ice skating) will be held for kids from Pre-K through 5th grade to get together for fun outside of the church while celebrating their Christian fellowship. Every child must be in the company of a parent or an adult who has agreed to be responsible for the child. Contact Vicki for more information.

Date Night - Taking place on the first Saturday of each month from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., this is an opportunity for church parents with young children (under age ten) to have time for themselves.  Couples leave their children at the church in the care of other parents in the group who rotate caregiving responsibilities.  This also provides time and fellowship opportunity for your children.  Contact Vicki for information.

Men's Fellowship - The Men's Fellowship group meets on Friday mornings at 7:30 in Room 202 to share a time of fellowship, prayer, devotion, and conversation to encourage spiritual growth. Contact Jennifer for more information.

Movie Night - This is a fun night that we have at different times of the year to watch a family movie together in Room 211 on the big wall.  This opportunity is open for singles or families who enjoy the down time of watching a movie while eating popcorn. Contact Deb for more information.

Softball Team - Anyone who is an active member, male or female, from the ages of 14 years and up is invited to join the team.  We play against other churches in the area for having fun, spreading goodwill, and meeting new friends. Contact Deb for more information.

Supper Clubs - These provide an opportunity for you to share food and fellowship and to meet new people from our church.  There are different groups of people who enjoy eating in homes or eating out in various restaurants.  There is also a group that is for families with young children. Contact Deb for more information.

Chair Exercise - This group exercises to a video on Mondays and Thursdays from 10:00-11:00 a.m.  No equipment is needed.  This chair exercise is kind to your knees and hips.  Contact Deb for more information.
