Lenten Journey
February 12, 2012
9:00 - 10:00 a.m.
The program will provide resources and activities designed to
strengthen the Christian observance of Lent, the period of time
when Christians prepare themselves to commemorate the events of
Holy Week and Easter, the death and resurrection of our Lord and
Savior, Jesus Christ.
Lenten Crosses: Crosses are a traditional symbol of Lent. Children are invited to stop at this center to decorate a cross to hang in their room at home, a reminder of God’s great love for his people.
Lenten Prayer Pot: Stop by this center to create a special prayer pot for use during Lent. Throughout the season, you can place in your prayer bowl the names, pictures or symbols of people and concepts for which you commit to pray.
Icthius (Fish symbol): Stop by this center to create a special fish craft. Fish are mentioned and given symbolic meaning several times in the Gospels. Several of Jesus' twelve Apostles were fishermen. He commissions them with the words "I will make you fishers of men".
Nail Cross Necklace: Crosses are a traditional symbol of Lent. Children are invited to stop at this center to create a nail cross necklace and remember Christ with the symbol of his sacrifice.
